2020 Positional Breakouts
Offense: Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End
Defense: Defensive Line | Linebacker | Cornerback | Safety
As the 2020 season draws closer, we’ll be looking at three players from each skill position (apologies to the OL) poised for a breakout this upcoming campaign. Make sure to check out the other positions as they come out! Today, let’s break down the quarterbacks.
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
You either love Allen or you hate him. Many criticize his often erratic passing performances as well as his poor arm. While this may have been true through the first two seasons in his career, with another offseason under his belt, Allen is sure to see improvement.
What he lacks in the air he makes up for on the ground. He was third among all quarterbacks last season with 510 rushing yards and first in touchdowns with nine. His rushing ability is not up for questioning.
Luckily for Allen, the supporting cast around him improved. The offensive line remained completely intact, which is great news for the mobile quarterback. The Bills’ hogs were fourteenth in the league last season in terms of sacks given up with 2.5 a game. While not spectacular, this unit certainly can hold their own.
The main bright spot for Allen is the new weapons he has to play with. With star receiver Stefon Diggs now slipping into the WR1 position, Allen now has a proven target to throw to. In addition, 22 year old D.J. Moore should prove to be just as reliable a target as he was last year when he posted 1,175 yards and four touchdowns.
